The All-in-One Solution for Geotechnical Analysis and Design
🌍 SETAF2018 – Advanced 3D Terrain Modeling and Integration Capabilities
SETAF2018 offers a comprehensive tool that enables fast, accurate, and versatile terrain modeling for your geotechnical engineering projects. The software provides a flexible user experience through both interactive on-screen input and AutoCAD-based data import.

📐 Automatic Terrain Import from DXF Files
SETAF2018 allows you to instantly convert complex terrain geometries into 3D models by importing DXF files created in AutoCAD or similar CAD programs.
Required DXF Content Format:
-
Terrain Boundaries
LayerName: "Contour"
Must be drawn as a closed 3D polyline including (X, Y, Z) coordinates. -
Inner Points (Detail Points)
LayerName: "InnerPoint"
Must be defined as Point objects. -
Boreholes
LayerName: "Borehole"
Must be placed as Point objects. -
Foundation Contours
LayerName: "Foundation"
Must be drawn as closed polylines.

🧭 Influence Zones of Terrain and Borehole Areas
The software automatically divides the terrain into zones based on borehole influence areas. Within each zone, a soil profile is generated reflecting the specific borehole’s data. These profiles consist of flexible numbers of soil layers, defined by the user, and are modeled as 3D surfaces aligned with the actual topography.

🔺 Realistic Surface Modeling via Triangulation
To generate terrain surfaces, SETAF2018 uses triangulation (TIN – Triangular Irregular Network). Triangles are created based on terrain boundaries, inner points, and borehole data.
This method delivers high accuracy for both gently sloped terrains and areas with abrupt elevation changes. The resulting triangular mesh accurately reflects the natural terrain surface in all 3D visualizations and section drawings.

🧱 3D Terrain Model and DWG Export
The generated 3D terrain model can be exported in DWG format. It can be viewed as mesh elements in CAD programs like AutoCAD, allowing you to directly integrate the model into architectural or technical drawing environments.

✂️ Generating 2D Section Drawings from the 3D Model
Within SETAF2018, you can define custom section lines interactively. The software slices the 3D terrain model along these lines to create detailed 2D soil cross-sections. These sections visually represent soil layer geometries and borehole data, making them ideal for use in technical reports.

🧾 2D Plan and Perspective Views from the 3D Model
In addition to cross-sections, SETAF2018 allows the generation of 2D plan views and perspective drawings directly from the 3D terrain model.
Users can rotate and view the model from different angles to create top views (plans) or front, back, right, and left elevations. These drawings can be exported and used directly in reports and drawing sheets.
